Make The Most Of Your Talent

By Michael Scott

Finding the Right Talent Agency

I've always secretly wondered about the lives of those people in picture frames. You know, the ones who are smiling and frolicking in the frames you buy in the store. I always think about just keeping those people in the frames and calling them family. They're better looking, anyway. But I digress. The point is, real people make those pictures, and think about it: you could be one of those people. Then you wouldn't have to change out the pictures in your frames. But that's further down the road. First, you need to find a good talent agency.

Which can be harder than you think. Cause there are a lot of bad ones out there. It's an industry that makes it easy to take money from the unsuspecting and deliver very little in return. Thus, you need to do your homework and figure out who you can trust before you sign up with them. Research is essential.

Working Hard to Get Your Face in Front of People

In your research you'll learn that you're going to need model composites, the business card of the industry. The agency uses these to find jobs for you. It's also important to make sure the agency is fully licensed.

Which returns us to those picture frames. Do you want to be one of those people? A model for ads, or a voice for radio, or a walker of catwalks? Or, on the other hand, would you want to be an actor in TV or film? Any and all of these things are possible if you've got the right attitude and plenty of dedication. More than anything, you've got to be dedicated, cause this is a competitive industry.

The Right Face May Be Right in Front of Your Face

Meaning that casting directors are looking for all kinds of faces and bodies. Not just the super-exotics from foreign lands. Turn on the TV and you'll realize a lot of the people in those commercials and TV shows look a lot like you. So it stands to reason that they very well could be you, if you get in front of the right people. And since talent agencies are looking for such a wide range of people, it doesn't matter if you're young or old. There may well be a job for you out there.

Assuming again that you're willing to work for it, this is a competitive business, that's for sure, and those who are as dedicated as they are charismatic will do well. This is also why it's important to find an agency who'll be honest with you as well as working as hard as you are. The agency is your guide through the industry, so that relationship will be an important one as you start out, and throughout your career. Put the effort in before you even get your head-shots made to find that agency that feels like a good fit, that wants to see you succeed and isn't just out for your money. In no time, you may find yourself in picture-frames all over the world. - 40727
