Disneys Oceans Released To Theater In 2010

By Norman Kline

For a powerful and up close and personal look into the life of the ocean and it's inhabitants, Disneys Oceans is the movie to see. It was released to theaters on Earth Day 2010 by the Disneynature Studio. Disneynature is the same company who released the critically acclaimed movie "Earth" in 2009.

The film was directed by Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud. It was narrated by British actor Pierce Brosnan, who is famous for his role as special agent James Bond in the 007 movie series. He is also an avid environmentalist. The movie was produced by Romain LeGrand. Disney Channel teen stars Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas recorded the hit song "Make A Wave" for the film's soundtrack. It entices young fans to answer the call to action to be proactive when it comes to making a difference on preservation.

Almost three quarters of the earth's surface is made up of water. Never before has there been a film that takes the audience so deep underneath the surface to explore the life that inhabits under the sea. The two Jacques take the audience on an unprecedented adventure by capturing never before seen footage underneath the sea.

It took nearly seven years from start to finish to create this movie. There were four years of location filming which resulted in over four hundred and eighty hours of recorded film. It took almost an entire year for the team to edit down the scenes. There were two full years of planning before filming even begun.

The directors have said that the vision of the film was to answer a simple question. What is an ocean? They want the audience to see that answer up close and personally through this underwater journey. It's a fragile but ironically strong web of creatures living under in the sea. Exploring it's depths takes the viewer on a wild ride that won't easily be forgotten.

Another view that they wanted to express was the affect that mankind is having on this essential resource. Pollution is a major culprit that is threatening the delicate balance of sea life. Financial gain that comes from too much fishing or too much development is also addressed in the movie. They wanted to demonstrate that water is without a doubt a precious resource that sustains all living things and it's in danger due to humans.

The sea's resiliency was also demonstrated in several scenes. It's evident that there are marine creatures that are tenacious and will not give up without a struggle despite the human inflicted elements against them. It was reassuring to them to find these remote areas where life proved to be resilient and determined to survive.

Disneys Oceans is a powerful and epic film filled with countless scenes that will touch the heart, and countless more that leave the viewer gripped and on the edge of their seat. From sharks and polar bears to walruses and dolphins, this is a journey of exploration that will delight the senses of young and old alike. Disneynature studio continues to fascinate with their vision. - 40727
