Full Audio - Surround Sound Surround

By Lisa Wilson

Sometimes you watch a great DVD, but your sound system is weak and you're wishing you had something to make that same DVD come to life. A surround sound system can dramatically improve any DVD.

Your home theater receiver is the brain of your entire system. All of your audio and video components are connected to it. You can simply turn a knob and select which device you'd like the receiver to play through the sound system.

In order to make sure you hear people talking clearly, a center channel speaker should be used. It can be placed in a center position where your television is at. Most receivers will allow you to adjust the speaker volume so whom ever is speaking is not too loud.

You should always set up your front speakers on the side of your LCD television. They're designed to play all the audio sound that's directly around the movie camera or sounds coming from "up ahead". If an actor was hitting a bat against the wall in front of the camera, your front speakers would play this sound.

Surround sound speakers are simply neat! Besides everything being louder and more in depth, these will allow you to actually feel like you're in the middle of the "Big Action Scene". Surround speakers will make a gun fight sound like bullets are not only being fired in front of you, but also from directly behind. It puts you smack dab in the middle of what your eyes are gazing upon.

It's time to bring on the bass. No matter which movie or TV show you're watching, a subwoofer will also bring things to life. If a bomb goes off in a movie, a subwoofer will make it appear as a bomb just went off in your house. This is really cool because a subwoofer can make things more intense, the way the director wants you to feel it. - 40727
