A Review Of A Nightmare On Elm Street 2010

By Kimberley Stewart

When you are looking for some of the finest in film remakes, it seems as though Hollywood has really been on point over the last few years. While it might be a case to suggest that they have run out of good ideas, it might also be safe to say that some of these classics needed a bit of a facelift for the new millennium. One great example of this would be "A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010".

If you are taking a look at this article, than you are likely looking to learn a little more about this film. Through the upcoming paragraphs you are going to get that introduction in a couple of different forms. One of these will be through learning some of the plot points, and another will be through some of the connections that you could draw between the first film and this remade one, nearly three decades later.

You should understand that there are actually several different things worth considering about this impressive film. One of which will be the new faces behind the title characters, and the next of these will be consistencies between this remake and the original. To get started, you are going to be given a brief plot synopsis. You need to keep in mind, though, that if you have not seen the film this might spoil smaller aspects of it for you.

As the film begins, you are introduced briefly to Dean who is trying to get a refill on his coffee at a diner. Really, Dean is dreaming and you are about to meet the antagonist, Freddy Krueger. Dean manages to wake up, though, and tells his girlfriend Kris that someone in his dreams is trying to kill him. She thinks he is crazy until she watches Dean kill himself very awkwardly right in front of her. He is screaming "You're not real! You're not real!"

Now, no one knows what is going on, but it doesn't take them long to figure out that no one is alone in their fear. They all determine that they are sharing the same dream. A man who is equipped with a four bladed hand and a burned up face is chasing them through their dreams. Most of them have come to terms that if they can't figure something out, then they are going to be dead like Dean.

Soon the body count begins to rise and no one seems to have an answer to how to stop the madman in their dreams with the knives. Through a little history lesson from their dreams coupled with a discovery made by Nancy coming out of one, both Quentin and Nancy decide to propose one final stand against a man that haunted them as children, and aims to kill them today.

The re-imagining had some familiar scenes, which made it parallel the original very nicely. It was much better in terms of computer generated effects, unlike what could have been produced back in 1984. Jackie Earle Haley, who has been featured in many films including the popular comic inspired film "The Watchmen" portrays the wicked Freddy Krueger, and giving the character a new spin and a terrifying new face in the process.

Learning about A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 is not difficult, and if you are a horror fan you should certainly check it out. While there might be more to consider than what is listed here, this should give you a little more insight into one of the best horror remakes in quite some time. - 40727
